Happy new Year 2008
We wish you and yours a good new year 2008. Also for 2008 we have several new features projected for World of Pirates.

Portugal? Portugal!
Portugal is changing the world! All of a sudden the inhabitants of George Town revolted and seceded from England. They now want to serve the Portuguese crown. During the rebellion the fort and the bank were destroyed. To repacify the region big galleons are patrolling the waters around the town. Naturally the english Royal Family is calling all loyal english countrymen to recapture George Town!
Portugal reacts with aloofness and monishes its own seamen not to start battles by themselves. Noncompliance will immediatelly be punished by Portugal with massive reputation loss.
Every sailor should be able to use the new and faster navigation possibilities for averse and cross wind to avoid unwanted combats.
But stay away from the protected territorial waters of foreign nations. It is reported that very strong guard fleets will appear in these regions if one is trying to hunt down small players.

An adaptive crew
With the latest updates, many improvements, optimizations and new features were added to "World of Pirates". Firstly, the crew now can gain experience in sword fights. Ship boys can become sailors and sailors can become veterans, so it is a little bit easier to have a strong crew. Secondly, the "safety mode" of a player will be shown to other players. When a player is in safe firing or boarding mode, he can't attack team mates, fellow clan members or own nation by accident.
Lastly, for the captains who are fond of travelling, cities will now offer missions to distant destinations.

Ready to sail under black colors!
Another big update adds more new features to "World of Pirates" and opens new possibilities for all players. The time has come to set sails as a real Pirate with the black flag on the mast! Yes! The bad guys are now able to leave their home nation and sail as a Pirate, doing jobs as a Pirate and being hunted as a Pirate.
But be alert! The life as a buccaneer is burdensome. You are hunted by all nations and you have to watch out for safe harbors to restock your resources.
And now all hands on deck! Cast off! Your 1st Officer commands to raise the flag and set the sails. Your mate has set the course to the open sea! Come on!

Changes to the sea fight
There is a new version of WoP available on the beta server. Several smaller bugs of the current live version are fixed. Additionally there will be some greater changes to the sea fights. These changes should fix or mitigate problems like "board shooting" and "insta fencing": [more...]
